Brixen Insulated and waterproof shoes

Bought these awesome shoes at this store here! I have just worn out my second pair only to find that these fine shoes will not be available again until Fall 2014 (per Keen). The wide front makes these incredible comfortable but the stiff construction requires a little help with some type of replacement insert. I use these for work (12 hour shifts Hospital ER) with little complaint about foot fatigue. I wear them on my boat when insulated XtraTufs aren’t required (Aluminum deck… Alaska…6-10 hours at a time) and the insulation built into the sole is outstanding. I will say that they are not the perfect shoe for sheer ice conditions… but that’s why someone invented slip on traction devices like the Yak Trak. They are waterproof. (Perfect shoe for SE Alaska weather). When properly fit there is no heel slipping. The toe guard is well appreciated if you ever leave the sidewalk. I don’t know why these are called a winter shoe, because they are fit for year round use and the small amount of thinsulate (200 gm) doesn’t bother even on hot days. I will definitely hoard these in the future as sometimes the best products fall away for no apparent reason sometimes. I hope the next production run matches the Keen quality I have enjoyed in my first 2 pairs. Note: do order a 1/2 size up to allow for custom tweaking of the inserts to make a perfect fit. Check out some more great selections at insulated shoes right here!
